Al Gore Chasing 350,000 Signature Petition for Environment - Congressional visit Tomorrow

Al Gore is hoping to collect 350,000 signatures for a petition that will be delivered to Congress tomorrow.  He's getting close to that goal with approximately 250,000 signatures already.  The man that invented the Internet has established a website that automates this process and emboldens people to sign a message and send it to their representative in Congress.

It is been said that most members of Congress ignore their e-mails these days, if you want to get the attention of someone in Congress you should send them a snail mail.  This is unfortunate but apparently it's one of those things that's come about in our modern times juxtaposed against the modern age of nasty e-mail aims and tears that send dangerous letters to Capitol Hill.  The combination and the excessive amount of money spent to ensure that mail delivered to the capital is safe apparently forces politicians to pay attention to snail mail while junking everything else.

Al Gore hopes to use his Internet savvy along with his political pull (he still placing well in the presidential campaign that he's not running for) to bring together the power of people's voices through e-mail focused through his own message on Capitol Hill.  Congress may ignore 350,000 e-mails from you or me independently, however when Al Gore shows up on their doorsteps with CNN and C-SPAN cameras rolling and makes a statement that 350,000 people have sent Congress a message then Congress will need to collectively pay a little bit more attention.
