Will Appreciative Coaching Ease Gridlock?

Our sponsors at Capella University have recently provided a press release about Professor Sara Orem's new book 'Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change.’   Sara Orem teaches pscyhology through Capella's online psychology degree program.

Her new book highlights the benefits of inspiring people, workers, students and populations to get things done by motivating them to act on their ideals.  When you can tap into the emotional connection of what someone believes is the 'right' thing to do you can get a lot of bang for your buck.

The problem is that everyone has different ideals and tapping into the potential of a population is not always easy.  In general, we see in politics a great deal of conflict when politicians reach out to people with different ideals and attempt to 'please everyone' so that they obviously end up 'pleasing no one.'

This was the hat trick that John Kennedy pulled.  Instead of trying to please people he charged them with the job of pleasing themselves and the nation by achieving goals inline with their ideals.
