Fire Resistant Bedding

The federal government has made it a law that mattresses should be fire resistant to decrease the likelihood of a fire flashover.  They have not yet made requirements of sheets and blankets yet.  Many manufacturers do make fire resistant kids bedding, but just like the Colgate knock off scandal many cheap imports or knock offs are not as safe nor tested.

The federal government should consider tightening up this area of law to increase safety of these bedding products and enable manufactures to compete on a level playing field.  After all the bedding is typically on top of the bed and is therefore more likely to catch on fire first in an emergency.  Resistance technology slows the spread of the fire which prevents flash over and allows families more time to get out of harms way.
